Holiday Gift Tags Challenge

In the season for giving, time to create some gift tags! Bitten the Bug2 is challenging you to create some holiday tags - from simple to fancy, from Hanukah to Christmas (and any other holiday), show us what you can do.

The three tags that I have made include images from a "Christmas" cartridge: a Reindeer
#M43930 cut out of thin wood veneer, The "Christmas" part of Happy Christmas #M3B79CHolly #M440F0 and Pine Bough #M3ED32 (both of which I used only the base layer). The pinecones were simply rolled flowers - and instead of rolling them tight, I pulled them from the middle to make it look outstretched. Christmas and Noel were chipboard that I added glitter to. I used a lot of distress inks, stickles, and glitter.

Christmas Card Challenge

Bitten by the Bug2 is holding a Christmas card challenge, and I know that you can join in on this simple challenge! I used the cricut cartridges Quilted Christmas and Winter Frolic -- and an SVG box card image. Far from perfect, I have some random cuts on Mary's mantle and St. Joseph doesn't seem to have a face because the cuts were too tiny to glue on. But overall these 2 inch cuts came out pretty good. I drew a star in the far corner, and used glitter paper on the angel's wings and the sentiment background.

Ornamental Challenge

Decking the halls, and decorating the tree -- make an ornament with the Cricut for Bitten the Bug2's next challenge. From an actually ornament to card or layout with one (or more), show us what you can make!

I Used Winter Frolic for the Ornaments (labeled Ornament) and merry and bright was an SVG that I either got for free or bought -- I don't remember. I just love the whimsical font! I cut both out of foil card stock, using the foil paper setting. Think that my next card will be these images against a white background. Hope that you will do the challenge with us!

Beware of a Halloween Challenge

Beware BBTB2's next two-week long challenge: Halloween themed! Come join us! My project is a two page layout - all set for some Halloween photos. I used the following cartridges: Teresa Collins Chic & Scary, Happy Hauntings, Holidays Through the Year Iron-on.

Fall Word Challenge

The Bitten by the Bug2 challenge for this two week period is to use a fall word in a cricut project. And it can be anything related to Autumn, Halloween or Thanksgiving. I used Mini Monsters for the Spooktacular title and the rickety fence. The cemetery hill is Happy Hauntings - it's <Grvyrd-s>, and you can't find it under a "graveyard" search. The photos mats are dripped goo - thanks to my old Martha Stewart border punch.

Coffee, Tea, You and Me

I am hosting Bitten by the Bug2's next challenge -- and it is anything about coffee or tea -- just in time for cooler fall weather! I used the cartridges Winter Frolic and Thoughts and Phrases (which is FREE on Design Space!). I think that I will do another version of this card -- this time with blues and lavender with white glitter.

Bridal Shower Box Card

I made a bridal shower box card for my husband's cousin. I used a lot of reds and purples because those are the color theme for her wedding. I also matched the couple's hair and skin tone - a fun way to customize a die cut. I added a rhinestone for the engagement ring - and it looks like a big rock! I hope that she likes it!

I used:

  • Winter Frolic for the gifts
  • Sweethearts for the words, umbrella, and the "will you" image of the couple
  • Box Card SVG

Anything Goes Challenge

Here's my Anything Goes Challenge from Bitten by the Bug2. This box card was made using Simply Charmed (chimney), Winter Frolic (Santa), and a Quilted Christmas (sleigh). I also have my own "Santa Stop Here" SVG file and the box card itself is from SVGCuts.com. I am just in love with this card -- not even sure if I could part with it! What I love most is how the cricut cut the glitter paper so beautifully and there is such detail even in a two inch die cut. I use the Cricut Air and used the intricate cut setting on the gold sleigh and Santa belt buckle.

In Honor of Labor Day...

Here's a two-week long Bitten by the Bug2 challenge: in honor of Labor Day, let's create some projects that celebrate what we do and how we do it - from a last day of summer BBQ to what we do for work.

Here's what my husband has been "working" on -- a new bridge to replace an old one. It's hard work, and I am proud of him -- working in all sorts of weather in a physically demanding job. Not for those scared of heights, for sure!

I used a "System Font," which is Arial Black for the title, and the Handy Man (for the tools, construction horse and tool box) and the Destinations cartridges. I cut the bridge and title on silver foil paper. I also used intricate cut on the cricut settings - shocked that the toolbox lines cut so well (my glueing, not so good, lol).

Hope that you will join in on this challenge. And Happy Labor Day!

Hit the Beach - Or the Lake!

I am hosting this week's Bitten by the Bug2 challenge - "Hit the Beach - Or the Lake!". This was a fun project to make - I knew that I would have the perfect photos for it (as I took them to fit the layout lol).

I used a combination of images - the title is from Miss Kate Cuttables - and I love the retro font. I added beach elements like the the waves (part of the surfer image from Create a Friend), starfish and shells (Pack Your Bags), hermit crab (Pet Shop) and sunglasses with flip flops (Pack Your Bags) - and the guy on the blanket (sunbather on Pack Your Bags) and Bracket Label (Phrases) for the journal box.

I wanted to share my layout process, just for fun. I began with some beach photos from this summer and found a patterned sheet of paper that reminds me of sand:

Then I chose my cricut cut shapes and priced them together. This is the part of the process that relaxes me.

This is the drying time because I added stickles and glossy accents. I am starting to see the layout come together now.

But I hit a bump in the road with my textured sand. Either one would have worked out, but it's all dried out! I wanted to use it on the word beach in the title and on the bottom, next to the waves.

Here is my finished layout:

4th of July Box Card

Here's my 4th of July project for the Bitten by the Bug2 Design Team. I used quite a few images from Cricut and Miss Kate Cuttables. I used Summer Celebrations for the "4th of July" and rocket images. I also modified All Occasions Box Cards' Anniversary box card. I spliced off a layer off the inside strip and used the base box card for this 4th card because I liked the size of the file. From Miss Kate Cuttables, I used a free (at the time) banner and firework image - just sized them a bit differently for variety. I was surprised at how well the cricut cut such small, thin images in my glitter card stock. Check out the fantastic projects from the design team, and hope that you can join this fun challenge!

Summer Swim Challenge

For Bitten by the Bug's weekly challenge, we are doing a summer swim challenge. I wanted to use up some patterned paper that reminds me of tiled pool walls. I used images from the Summer Celebrations and Pack Your Bags cartridges and coordinated the diecut color card stock to match the paper. It's been a layout on my to do list and glad that the blog pushed me to finish it. Hope that you can do this week's challenge!

Gold Graduation Card

Here's a gold glittered graduation card. It is a classy yet generic card that can commemorate any high school or college graduation.

Local Graduation Cards

Here's a few local graduation cards -- using the high school colors and cricut images from Graduation. I think that owl is adorable. I did print the school mascot and tried to use the print and cut feature in Design Space, but my cricut couldn't read the cut lines for some reason. And not enough time, it was quicker to fussy cut than call cricut support. Next time I try to print and cut again, I hope that I will have more time.

Father's Day Tool Box Card

Here's my project for the Bitten by the Bug2 design challenge: Father's Day. I used Handy Man and Father's Day cartridges for this project. Here is a view from the top:

And the view while it lays flat.

Congrats Graduation Card

I found this image on the internet, uploaded into Cricut Design Space, and turned into a cuttable file. I blinged out a girl on the silhouetted graduation card with gold stickles. I love the "movement" of the graduation caps against the ombre sky colors of the patterned paper, showing a perfect day for a graduation.

Graduation Card Challenge

Join us at Bitten by the Bug2 challenge this week, graduation, which I am hosting. Here is a set of graduation cards that I made. I used two cartridges:Happy Graduation (#M3E826) and Paper Dolls Teen Scene: (S-Occssn #M3F5E7 and T-Occssn #M41465). The paper dolls image titles don't say anything about graduation - and "teen" or "scene" didn't come up in a keyword search -- as well as graduation. I remembered seeing these images from a search months ago. So you are welcome for finding these these images ;)

This is a card that I made for Bitten By the Bug2's flower challenge. This beautiful flower image is is from Miss Kate Cuttables. Thanks for stopping by my blog -- and try this week's challenge!

So excited to learn that I was featured on Miss Kate's blog: http://misskatecuttables.blogspot.com/2018/05/april-may-fan-projects.html!

Dancing Challenge

It's time to celebrate! Here's a novel challenge from Bitten by the Bug2: create something special that involves dancing. I found a Gone with the Wind SVG (as am working on a movie ATC for a swap), and cut the image in vinyl. I adhered it to glitter cardstock and matted it on special handmade damask patterned paper. You can see that the material is soft and doesn't cut clean - but I like the frayed edges. For my ATC, I simply matted the image on white glitter card stock onto black cardstock.

It looks like a wedding dance - or a romantic embrace - so I added the sentiment "For the Newlyweds" from Stampin' Up!'s Teeny Tiny Wishes. I embellished the with a Webster's tassel that falls above the woman's dress and pinned it up with a small brad.

Fiesta Box Card

Of course I had to show you a bright and cheery fiesta-themed card for Cinco de Mayo. I made a Happy Birthday Fiesta Pop Up Card for a friend -- and she loved it! The cut file that I used is from SVGcuts.comBox Card Kit. Of course, I could have scored and then cut a 12x12 sheet of card stock, but that would have taken me far more time to do. The time-intensive cricut die cut images are from the Ole cartridge. Each image is two inches tall - and some of those cuts are minute. I cut the sentiment in black adhesive vinyl -- using Black and White free fonts from Font Bundle "Brilliant Bundle." What a great font - and the cricut successful cut it as the distressed font it is. The number 1 was fun to make - I glued on layers of shredded cut cardstock over a cricut cut 1, following the same color pattern as the outside patterned paper. I used retired patterned papers from Stampin' Up! And of course, Stickles.

Here is a view from the top:

The outside of the card box is flat.

And it fits nicely in the envelope:

Creative Die Cut Challenge

Let's get creative with our die cuts on the Bitten by the Bug2 challenge! Choose any image and use color, glue, glitter, anything that makes the die cut a little different. Hope that you will participate -- can't wait to see what you come up with!

For this card, I used Tinkerbell from the Disney® Classics cartridge. I matted her onto glitter cardstock - to show that fairy dust sparkle that she has in the movies. This is a very difficult image to cut - so when I cut the hair ribbon and lips, you could hardly see the cuts as they were so tiny! So I stickled on the items -- a much easier solution. I also added glossy accents on her wings and shoes to make it seem a bit translucent.

The stamp is from Stampin' Up!'s retired set: Endless Birthday Wishes. It's a keeper!

Marilyn Monroe ATC

I made another ATC for yet another swap. I forgot how much fun it is to swap paper crafts. The theme was movies, and I picked a classic: Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. I found this Andy Warhol-type SVG image of Marylin online and created the movie title text in Cricut Design Space. I think it came out pretty good -- here's to hoping my swap partner thinks the same!
